I've totally been digging everything my lovely friends at Ivory + Beau have been up to.  Savannah's newest bridal boutique currently carries 9 permanent designers but they also love to treat their Lowcountry ladies to fun pop-up shops featuring up-and-coming talents.  But best of all, this talented twosome is nothing short of perfection when it comes to styling a bride, and they've so kindly decided to share their most recent creation captured by our favorite Savannah photographer, Rach Lea Photography, with A Lowcountry Wedding!  Armed with a dreamy, pale pink Vera Wang gown, the creative team whipped up this amazing sequins and peony wedding inspiration that has knocked cute, little wedding socks off!  Give me some sparkle, a jaw dropping peony bouquet and a killer Lowcountry wedding photographer to capture it all, and I'm one happy lady!

Magnolia Plantation Wedding by amelia + dan photography & Ooh! Events

We're always up to feast our eyes on a sweet Magnolia Plantation wedding, but when mixed with a day-after session at Angel Oak, it's almost too much for my little Lowcountry-wedding-obsessed heart to handle.  Toss amelia + dan photography and Ooh! Events into the fun and you've got a very pin-able Charleston wedding on your hands.  Bride Kayce stunned in a fitted, lace gown while her bridesmaids looked lovely in neutral dresses of their liking before piling into a vintage, yellow truck.  The men, on the other hand, donned yellow bow ties with grey suit pants before the couple met under the majestic Oak tree.

Powder Blue Island House Wedding by Jennifer Bearden Photography

Last week, I opened up a Save-the-date for our friends' Lowcountry wedding later this year at the Island House and after obsessing over this beauty, I couldn't be more excited.  It's the perfect Charleston wedding venue for a couple looking for a laid-back Southern bash on the water with a nice salty breeze.  The talented Jennifer Bearden Photography teamed up with A. Caldwell Events, First Bloom of Charleston and Cru Catering for Annie + Carey's dreamy Southern affair!

From the Bride: "Carey and I have been dating for 8 years. We lived in the same dorm in college. We had many mutual friends but never really hung out. My junior year my brother moved in Carey. We started hanging out and as they say the rest is history. Carey is the best friend I could have ever asked for and our wedding was everything I had ever dreamt of. It was just perfect. As we called it was Pottery Parn meets Pinterest with a touch of rustic. It was laid back but still elegant. The ceremony was outside on the Stono River. The weather was just perfect. The bridesmaids were in soft blue chiffon and guys in navy suits. The aisle was lined with mason jars filled with soft pink, blues, and white flowers. Petals were scattered on the grass around the altar where a large piping held fabric pulled by and secured with large white flower arrangements. The ceremony was held in the tent outside. The seating charts were on old easels that we had found, refurbished and painted each window pane with chalkboard paint. The tables were lined with burlap runners. Flowers (blues, pinks, whites) were in different size and shaped vases and candles in hurricane holders were the centerpieces. We had made the table numbers. I had glued numbers to a block and then spray painted them. They looked great. ‘Mr’ & ‘Mrs’ sign were used on Carey and I chairs. I had a memory candle burn in honor of my brother who is no longer with us. The cake was amazing. It was 4 tiers with lace to match my dress. The cake topper was the best. We are big animal lovers and had a handmade clay topper of Carey and I with all our animals; two labs and our cat. We had used A&C throughout our whole wedding. It was on our save the dates, our invitations and on the mason jars that were our favors for guest. It was the best day ever!"

South Carolina Aquarium Wedding from Richard Bell Photography

We sure do love South Carolina Aquarium weddings!   So much so that we were lucky enough to feature it in our most recent issue.  You may remember our gorgeous Southern Sparkle shoot we shared in our premier issue of A Lowcountry Wedding Magazine.  It was outside on the Deck with gorgeous views of the Charleston Harbor.  Pretty breathtaking if you ask me!  Well, this gorgeous ocean-inspired wedding from Ashley Nicole Events and Richard Bell Photography incorporated everything we love about the South Carolina Aquarium.  A stunning evening ceremony overlooking the Harbor and the Cooper River Bridge, a festive octopus cake and whimsical fish-filled aquariums at every turn.

From the Bride: "Brian and I love aquariums, sea life and conservation, so the aquarium was a no-brainer choice for us. Every place we visit, we make a point to visit the aquariums too- it's our tradition. Plus, my sister works as the PR director for the Aquarium, so she really sold us on the venue! We wanted to incorporate aspects of ourselves and our loves into our wedding and reception, which is a mix of art deco and the ocean. Interesting combo, I know! My dress is a Jenny Packham and screamed art deco to me. I paired it with a vintage Eduardian pin from the 1920's which is being made into a pendant. Brian and his groomsmen (and one groomswoman!) wore a Vineyard Vines cummerbund set with their tuxes (and a flower accent for the groomswoman) that featured little blue crabs (Brian's favorite!) on a coral background. Brian's boutonniere is held by an electroplated crab claw in silver. The bridesmaids wore a one-shouldered After Six gown in jade that has ruching that went hand-in-hand with my dress. Our colors were jade, coral and a deep blue...mirroring the colors of Mother Ocean. We wanted nature to play a large part in our celebration, so we decided to wed under the stars on the Aquarium's veranda. In addition to our love of fish, we also love Phish, the band. We incorporated small, subtle tokens featuring Phish throughout, including our first dance (Show of Life), lyrics from Phish songs on each table and our favors: donations to both the waterwheel foundation (Phish's charity that gives back to various programs throughout the nation) and the sea turtle hospital (of the SC aquarium)"

Indian Wedding in Charleston via Caroline Lima Photography

If I could gawk over a vibrant Indian wedding every day, I would be one happy lady.  Needless to say, I’m incredibly indebted to the talented Caroline Lima Photography for sharing Anita + Tyler’s stunning affair at the Downtown Charleston Renaissance Historic District Hotel.  Anita is a beauty and when draped in her traditional attire, I can only describe her as truly breathtaking.   While the couple swapped vows in a traditional ceremony, other details were a little more unconventional, like their mixed gender bridal party.  What a great idea to include those closest to you!

From Caroline Lima: “When I met Anita for the first time, her calm and sweet voice made me realize right away how special her wedding would be. Every time she mentioned Tyler her eyes lit up and it was clear to me that she had found her other half. Do you know when we are extremely happy and we can’t stop smiling? That was Tyler on their wedding day! He had this huge smile on his face. So heartwarming to see!  Anita & Tyler celebrated their Indian/American wedding among their family and best friends, it was so beautiful to see two different cultures coming together to celebrate their love!”

Coastal Wedding at the Island House from Riverland Studios

If I could be a guest at any wedding, it would definitely be this one!  These two had fun-filled Coastal wedding to celebrate their new life together and I have a feeling the newlyweds and their lively guest list won't forget it anytime soon!  Lindsay & Tim fell in love at Clemson University. They were neighbors their freshmen year, and after a fall break trip to Charleston, they started dating. After graduating, they moved to Charleston for three years, which is why they chose to get married in this city. Even though they now live in Chicago, Charleston will always hold a special place in their hearts.  These college sweethearts got married at St. Mary’s of the Annunciation, a stunning Roman Catholic Church in Downtown Charleston.  Their reception took place at the Island House on John’s Island, one of our favorite Charleston wedding venues! This location is so scenic; there are fields of flowers and an awesome view of the Ashley River. Lindsay chose soft details, including all white linens, light pink and cream flowers, and lots of candles. Guests dined on a selection of seafood and shrimp and grits from Duvall Events and a delicious signature cocktail. They tore up the dance floor to the sounds of PlaneJane and ended the night with a group shot of all of the Clemson Alumni.

Tell us a little bit about how you met your husband…

 We met when we were both freshman at Clemson University in SC. We were both placed in over-flow housing and we were neighbors! I asked him to my sorority’s crush party and it’s been love ever since!

How did he propose?  How long were you engaged for?

Tim proposed in March of 2012 during his last year in law school. He planned it out with my boss so they would give me the day off. He proposed on Sullivan’s Island (I literally had no idea!) and than he flew us to NJ the next morning so we could celebrate with my family! We were engaged for about 18 months.

Out of the entire day, what was the most memorable moment?

The most memorable moment was seeing Tim for the first time. We saw each other before the ceremony. I walked out on a dock overlooking the beach to meet Tim. It was a moment that all at once I felt anxious, happy and excited.

Color Palette:

The bridesmaids dresses were “aluminum”. The guys wore grey.

The flowers were all blush tone colors.

Linens were all white.

What made you choose your venue? What elements drew you to it?

We were looking for a venue that would amaze our guests. This was a destination wedding and we wanted our guests to be wowed by the beauty of Charleston. The Island House definitely captures that!

Something old: My something old, borrowed and blue was one thing: my mom’s mom wedding ring. It is a beautiful ring that has sapphire stones on it. This was a piece of jewelry that I always knew I wanted to wear on my wedding day.

Describe your Specialty Drinks?

We lived in Charleston for three years while Tim attended law school at Charleston School of Law. Our favorite restaurant, Fish had a specialty cocktail that was Tim’s favorite! That was our inspiration for our signature cocktail. It was Vodka, soda water and elderflower syrup with cucumber.. it seemed to be a crowd pleaser!

 Tell us all about the details!  Did any have special meaning? What was your favorite?

We wanted our wedding to be like no other! We were really looking for that Charleston feel… Right on the water, under a tent, serving shrimp and grits!

What’s your favorite picture from your wedding and why?

Hmm.. I would have to say the one of Tim and I kissing in the wildflowers at the Island house. That was the point in the day when we felt like we could finally relax.

Most valuable piece of advice you’d give to a newly engaged bride:

I would say .. If you have a vision to go for it! I look back at the photos of our wedding day and it was exactly was I had envisioned. But throughout the whole process I kept in mind the end result: that I was marrying my best friend and no matter what, it would be perfect.

20. Lovely lace: Preserve your wedding gown by putting a piece into a necklace so you can wear it more than once. You can even have your future daughter wear it on her wedding day as a sentimental “something old”.

You may remember Megan's Downtown Charleston bridal portraits that we featured a few months ago, easily one of my favorite's ever!  Well today, we get to share her amazing Island House wedding from Juliet Elizabeth Photography.  Y'all it's stunning.  The epitome of everything you'd want your Lowcountry wedding to include.  A beautiful bride in an effortless lace gown, a coastal breeze and a man in a tux!  These two tied the knot along the banks of the Stono River in a simple, yet breathtaking ceremony before joining their guest for one heck of a celebration designed by Sweet Grass Events.  We're obsessed with the blush colored bridesmaids dresses, that amazing cake and the beautiful flowers from First Bloom of Charleston!

Grande Dunes Ocean Club Wedding by Memorable Moments + Leslie Parrott

This lovely Sunday weather has me daydreaming of long Summer days and ocean views!  Since I can't quite have the long Summer days, I'll settle for gorgeous ocean views, and that's just what Meredith + Rod's Ocean Club at Grande Dunes wedding delivers!  The wonderful crew at Memorable Moments teamed up with a talented group of Myrtle Beach Wedding Vendors for the perfect Lowcountry affair.  Apparently, the weather acted up a bit, but you would never be able to tell from these beautiful images Leslie Parrott Photography captured.  We're obsessing over the perfect coastal color palette of pale pink and navy with touches of burlap!

From Leslie: "Meredith and Rod are a fun couple that are excited to show off their wedding. The details were elegant yet the vibe was laid back allowing for guests to really enjoy themselves. They added personal touches such as in lieu of guest gifts a donation was made to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund (Meredith and her family are from New Jersey). And Rod is from Atlanta so he wanted the southern, relaxed touch of farm tables at the reception. The day unexpectedly ended up being cold and windy so there was a last minute decision to tent the reception. The couple was not able to walk the beach for photos as they had originally planned either. But the day turned out perfect regardless and the photos still have the Myrtle Beach touch to them."

Happy Southern Wedding Sunday to our favorite ladies!  We're getting March started with a beautiful Magnolia Plantation Carriage House wedding from the talented crew at Richard Bell Photography.  Samantha + Max adroned the Carriage House in a preppy color palette of blue, yellow and white, while Cupcake treated guests to some tasty treats!

From the bride: "Like many couples, we wanted our wedding day to really reflect who we are, while also remaining fairly traditional and staying on a tight budget. We selected Magnolia Plantation's Carriage House for the beautiful venue that it provides and we wanted our southern roots to shine. One of our close friends is officiating our ceremony under the beautiful hundred year old oaks draped with softly lit lanterns. We added touches of lace and burlap to keep with the theme of rustic southern charm. Duvall Events continued our theme by providing low country cuisine, including Charleston's famous shrimp and grits and Palmetto Brewery beer. Everything from our monogrammed mason jars to the fresh daisy center pieces really pulled our event together to make for a classic southern wedding."

Purple & Green Orange Hill Plantation Wedding from Riverland Studios

Amy & Jes were married in the Fall at Orange Hill Plantation in Summerton, South Carolina. This family-owned property was the perfect location for Amy & Jes’s outdoor affair.  The lovely ladies from The Burlap Elephant helped turn the backyard into a lush and colorful ceremony site.  Thanks to Wildflowers Inc, this Orange Hill Plantation wedding covered with vibrant flowers in all different shades of purple and green.  Don't you just love those bouquets and the unique succulent boutonnieres that the guys wore!  Amazing.  They also had a “wish” tree, where they asked guests to write down wishes they had for the couple’s future. Amy & Jes were great sports and ended the night by running in the rain through a romantic sparkler exit, which was the perfect ending to their Lowcountry wedding.  Thanks to Riverland Studios for capturing all the details!

Wild Dunes Wedding on the Beach from Jenna Marie Weddings

You probably remember Jenna Marie Weddings from one of my favorite engagement sessions of all-time, so much so, that we just HAD to publish it in the premier issue of A Lowcountry Wedding Magazine.  It was that good!  So head on over a see it for yourself.  Well, the talented Jenna Marie has done it yet again, but this time it took place at one of Charleston's most sought after beachfront venues, the beautiful Wild Dunes Resort.  Maggi + Chuck were married in the perfect coastal ceremony in front of their closest family and friends as the sounds of the Atlantic Ocean crashed along the shore.   Maggi was STUNNING in a flow-y, strapless gown that she paired with royal blue heels.   After they said 'I do', they joined their guests for an evening under the Lowcountry stars where guests enjoyed quite the spread of Southern cuisine and yummy candy bar.  Thanks to Jenna Marie for sharing this lovely Wild Dunes Wedding with us!

The small New England town was a perfect place for Kellie to advance her TV News reporting career and for Nick to take his first job in the US Coast Guard. Kellie traveled upper New England investigating, covering breaking news stories. While Nick patrolled the surrounding international waters protecting our country. It was 11.12.11 on Kiawah Beach, South Carolina– the day Nick proposed his love and asked for her hand in marriage! There, at sunset, with the waves crashing and with her two best friends by her side (Nick and the couple’s black lab), Nick proposed and the engaged couple toasted to a lifetime together. They exchanged vows in front of family and friends in an outdoor intimate ceremony on April 26, 2013 in Mount Pleasant, SC. Soul mates, and best friends, the happily married couple enjoy traveling and spending time with their two black labs. With every day brings more love, happiness and eternal bliss for each other!"
