Inspiration Shoots

Boone Hall Plantation Wedding Inspiration {JoPhoto} LB Floral

Last week I had a hankering to feature a styled shoot, so I put it out there on twitter and my little heart couldn't have been happier with what rolled into my inbox.  Southern wedding photographer, JoPhoto, made my day and is about to make your week with this stunning Boone Hall Plantation wedding inspiration shoot.  With the help of LB Floral and Vanity Salon, the group created one magical Lowcountry afternoon.  We adore this lovely floral bridal halo, a blooming cotton field, and two dreamy gowns (lace wedding gown, and a flowy bridesmaid gown).   Along with the amazing natural light, The Avenue of Oaks lining the drive of Boone Hall Plantation was the perfect Charleston wedding backdrop and we have a feeling your Pinterest boards will agree.

DIY Centerpieces

We've got a big week on the horizon at A Lowcountry Wedding!  For starters, we'll be teaming up with a crew of crazy, talented Charleston wedding vendors for a nautical-inspired shoot at the South Carolina Aquarium that is going to knock. your. socks. off.   On Thursday, you'll find us at The NotWedding with some of South Carolina's finest wedding vendors as we treat Lowcountry brides to an evening full of inspiration at the beautiful Rice Mill Building, but in the meantime, Blake is showering you with some easy, yet impactful, do-it-yourself centerpieces.

.

I just love the idea of using vintage bottles as flower centerpieces. You can use different sizes, shapes, and colors. There are so many things you can do with them and they just look so cute!

If you want to add a pop of color you can do it yourself! All you have to do is pour paint on the inside of the vase and swirl around to coat. So easy!

White Point Gardens {Kelly}

If Kelly Sauer is involved, then you know you’re about to get your pretty on, and if this isn’t pretty then I just don’t know what else is.  The bride, Kelly, is strikingly beautiful, effortlessly gorgeous and such a natural in front of the camera that you can’t stop starring at these images.   It was so hard to narrow down my favorites!  I can only assume she is any photographer’s dream!  With her hair swept off her face, she donned a classic Anne Barge gown that was paired with a matching necklace and earrings.    All I can say is Kelly Sauer sure does have a knack for capturing loveliness. charleston weddings on a lowcountry wedding blog

Charleston Weddings {Lace Inspiration}

I interned for Spoleto Festival one summer (years ago!), so when Reese Moore Wedding Photography shot over this jaw-dropper, I think I squealed.  The Spoleto Festival Headquarters is located in Downtown Charleston on 14 George Street and as you can see, the building is just magnificent.  Now, pair one-heck of a backdrop with a crazy cast of Charleston wedding vendors and you get this lavish lace inspiration shoot designed by Fabulous Fete.  The beautiful model was outfitted in a dreamy Kira Elizabeth original that was complemented with delicate flowers from WildFlowers Inc., an elegant cake from Elaine's Event and stunning stationery from Open House.  Go ahead, get your pin on! charleston weddingscharleston wedding vendorscharleston wedding blogsspoleto festival usacharleston wedding venuescharleston wedding photographerslowcountry weddingswildflowers inc

Lowcountry Wedding Inspiration

Ohhh, ladies!  We're diving right into this week with a big dose of Lowcountry wedding heaven that is sure to knock your socks off.  Captured by our friend Brooke Roberts Photography, this fabulous inspiration shoot highlights everything we love about this time of the year.  Getting hitched by the coast lends itself well to beautiful outdoor event, whether it's your wedding reception, rehearsal dinner or an intimate shower...you just can't go wrong.  With the help of Judi Watson Florals and Dutchman Designs, the team matched soft furnishings with pops of colorful accent pieces to achieve a cozy, laid back setting at The St. Simons Lighthouse and A.J. Jones Heritage Center.  Aren't you loving the summery color palette of turquoise and pink?  The models were outfitted in dresses from Lady in White and Snippety Do Da's topped them off with the perfect hair and make up.  Possibly my favorite part?  That food!  Tasteful Temptations whipped up some delicious Lowcountry cuisine (and a tasty specialty drink!) perfect for a garden affair. Coastal Lowcountry Wedding Inspiration from Kelly Sauer Photography

Charleston photographer Kelly Sauer of Girl in the White Dress must know me way too well.  I'm pretty certain she knew the minute I saw this darling anniversary shoot that it would just set my heart a-flutter...and boy, did it!  The couple, Rachel + Bruce,  headed back to the place where they said 'I do', Bruce's picturesque parent's home, for this sweet inspiration shoot filled with adorable DIY details and loads of Lowcountry wedding charm!  I mean, there's a joggling board and a dock...what more could you want?  The whole afternoon was relaxed and effortless which was evident in Rachel's picnic-esque selection of food (salmon and smoked turkey finger sandwiches, Barefoot Contessa lemon bars, and sweet tea), fresh fruit (pears, lemons, and muscadine grapes) and a little mint to brighten the feel of things. Kelly incorporated soft pops of red as she designed and created the jewelry, bouquets, favors and centerpieces full of happy-go-lucky daisies.  I must say, Kelly's adorable daughter Piper may have just stolen the show in her role as the flower girl...don't ya think?

Red and Teal Wedding Inspiration from Jeray and Kim Weddings

Even though the weather has been overly fabulous the last few months (poor Winter barely got to say hi this year!), we officially welcomed Spring this week (along with loads of pollen!). While Spring has made itself nice and cozy, I have a feeling our hot, humid friend Summer we'll be setting up shop in the Lowcountry before we know it.   Which I'm okay with because you know what comes with Summer months?!  Bright, spunky colors!  Our friends over at Jeray and Kim Weddings teamed up a newlywed couple for a fun, vintage day-after session designed by Brier Rose Design.  With a vivid red + teal color palette, the couple was able to relax for an easy going inspiration shoot filled with darling props and beautiful natural lighting!  We're kind of obsessed with a red and teal wedding palette!

Rustic Winter Wedding Inspiration

Well, my holiday vacation officially started last night...which meant I had to sleep in this morning :)  So, sorry for the delayed post!  But, since we're in the Christmas 'home stretch', I just had to share this rustic winter wedding shoot from the talented twosome of McGowan Images and MegB Designs.  I know it's been unseasonable warm in our neck of the woods, but these images may just help put you in the holiday spirit! From the designer, Meagan Bechtel of MegB Designs:

"My idea for this shoot was really simple – I wanted to convey a beautiful winter wedding scene, without being overtly Christmas or using any holiday cliches. I tried to stick with a few basics – neutral colored china and linens, antiqued silver and mercury glass, various sizes of pinecones, and just a few touches of bright red. We were so lucky to be granted the use of a local Christmas tree farm, which was the perfect backdrop for this scene. When I’m designing, it’s helpful for me to think of what I what I already own, what I can probably borrow, and what I might be able to source cheap, or second-hand. That’s pretty much the basis for my philosophy: beg, borrow, or thrift. I guess my point is, you don’t need a lot of money to set up a fabulous-looking event, or table-scape. We did two table settings, a desert station, and styled a bride and groom, and did it for cheap - my final total for this shoot was less than a hundred bucks: $20 for the whoopie pies ingredients, $20 for the florals/materials, $15 for 5 yards of cotton muslin to recover the chairs cushions/cloth napkins, $10 for a few well-priced Goodwill finds, and about $20 for the candles, peppermints, cranberries, and rock salt. As I did on my own wedding day, I trusted McGowan Images to capture this shoot the way I imagined it. We talked about wanting it to feel wintery, but at the same time, warm and sun-drenched. That's the kind of Christmas you get in Central Texas. I think the images turned out even better than we were hoping for, and I hope they help inspire a cash-strapped bride to think outside the box for winter wedding design."

Peach + Aqua Wedding Inspiration

I'm starting to get really sad that summer is over :(  But I do have to admit I am LOVING  this weather. I was in Atlanta last weekend for the UGA game and it was a steamy 95 degrees on Saturday.  Twenty-four hours later and it's a refreshing 75.  So, I can't really complain about that.  Thanks to my good friend Pinterest, I'm able to hang on to all these gorgeous images until I find the perfect time to use them.  I've really been diggin' the color peach over the past few months and recently I've taken a liking to pairing it with a beautiful coastal blue.  It's a very classic, relaxing...and almost even a neutral palette.  It is a perfect combo for A Lowcountry Wedding...

Charleston Weddings {Lowcountry Inspiration Board}

Hi!  I'm Amanda from baci designer stationery + events, a custom stationery and event planning boutique located in Northeast Ohio.  A huge thank you to Erin for having me today :o)  My husband and I lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for three years and while we were there our love for the south grew greater with each year that passed.  We loved it so much that in 2006 we were engaged while visiting Isle of Palms near Charleston (hands down our favorite place on earth!!)!  While we were sad to leave, our need to be closer to our families prevailed and we moved back to the Midwest a few years ago.  Everyday we miss all the things we adored so much about the south - the perfect weather, the soft southern accents that accompanied some of the most wonderful people and of course, the food!!  So I thought there wasn't a more perfect audience to create a Lowcountry Inspiration Board for than you all!  I envision the warm, vintage palette at an outdoor wedding on the land of a local plantation followed by a fabulous black tie reception in the main house complete with a fresh-caught seafood dinner, finishing off the night with a fully stocked cigar bar.  Southern charm at its best!

Pepper Plantation Wedding {Peter + Nicole}

It's Thursday and I'm going on vacation tomorrow (sorry to rub it in!.  Hopefully, I'll be productive today...but I'm not making any promises.  I'm so excited I kinda can't stand it but I'm even more pumped to share today's real wedding with you all.  Yesterday we featured Peter + Nicole's rustic Cotton Dock Rehearsal Dinner and today we're following it up with their winter wedding that I'm pretty sure you're going to fall in love with.  Once again, Peter + Nicole enlisted the talents of The Daniels and Eventa Bella and, no surprise, they did not disappoint.  The couple hosted their guests for an evening of live music by Charleston favorite, Plane Jane, at the picturesque Pepper Plantation,.  It was the perfect backdrop for Nicole's rustic pewter color palette, cozy lighting and of course, some cowboy boots!

Southern Weddings {Anna + Patrick}

Whenever I talk to someone who is recently engaged and in the planning stage, (whether I know them or not), my first question is always, "Have you picked out your colors?!"   I love to see the color palette brides choose because it always says so much about their personality.  Today's Florida bride, Anna, picked a perfectly beach-y combo of orange and blue for her October nuptials which matches her and hubby Patrick's vivacious, laid back and classic style.  Anna is just radiant in her white Maggie Sottero gown which she paired with a few blue accessories (lovin' that necklace) that fit the mood of the day just right...don't you think?  The ladies of Stay Forever Photography, Jessica and Melissa, were on hand to capture all the loveliness (and boy did they do their job!).  With a beautiful backdrop of palm trees and a touch of the Florida sun, Anna + Patrick were wed at Fort Pierce Yacht Club.  They continued the evening with some serious dancing, delicious food and gorg flowers by Giordano's.

Purple + Turquoise

I love this color palette and have always thought you need to be a little cautious with it for a wedding and not go overboard...but I think we might have nailed it with this inspiration board.  Don't you just love the tablescape in the bottom left corner?  I like how the farm table gives it a more laid back vibe and you just can't beat those vivid, beautiful centerpieces.  Um, excuse me Cameron Diaz? Can you please give me that entire ensemble? I'm crazy about her necklace and that killer dress.  Perfect Summer color combo...

Southern Weddings {Wedding Bouquets}

You can call Pinterest an addiction but I like to refer to it as research :)  I always thought it would be so fun to be a florist.  Would you not love to be surrounded by gorgeous blooms all day long?  I remember when I was planning my wedding and you could not pry me from the computer. I was constantly searching and searching for the perfect bouquet, boutonniere, centerpieces etc.  Sometimes, I would just find one type of flower or a particular shade of color that would be exactly what I was looking for.  So, my hopes in sharing Part II of Wedding Bouquets (Don't miss Part I!) is that they'll be that perfect bit of inspiration that has been the missing link to your wedding day inspiration board...
Enjoy!
