Planters Inn Wedding {Katrina + Paul} Riverland Studios

I count my lucky wedding blogging stars each and every day for the opportunity to share such a special time in a couple's life.  I love every moment of it.  The details, the back story and the emotional shots...all of it, and Katrina + Paul's Planters Inn wedding delivered every aspect of it.  Thanks to Riverland Studios for capturing all the moments! charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings

Tell us a little bit about how you met your husband...
We met through friends.  We were actually at the same place with our friends multiple times but never actually spoke for several months.  We were eventually introduced and started dating shortly there after.

How did he propose?
We were living apart for 2 years,  I was living in Texas and he was still in Charleston.  We would take weekend trips and meet eachother at Virginia Highlands in Atlanta.  We adored the area and went back a couple of times.  On the last trip there he took me back to our favorite restuarant, which we took a trip to every visit we made, and proposed.  It was our first night of the trip so we had the rest of the weekend to celebrate together!  He proposed in November and we were married the following September.  10 months.  We dated for 6 years.

What made you choose your venue?  What elements drew you to it?
We chose the Planters Inn and Peninsula Grill because it quaint and the perfect size for an intimate wedding.  We wanted to be surrounded by our closest family and friends but still feel like we had a full house.  The Planters Inn was perfect!   We liked the idea of getting married in a courtyard and then having an onsite reception to make it easy for our guests.  I liked how I could keep the decorations simple since the location was already so charming.

How many guests attended?
80
Color Palette: Plum, cream and black

We love to be tourists in our own town and have always been drawn to spending our day or night dates wandering Market Street.  We loved the idea of getting married in the same area that we always pick for our date nights!  We enjoy being able to go right back to our wedding spot whenever we want. charleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddingscharleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddingscharleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddingscharleston weddings, hilton head weddings, myrtle beach weddings

Something old: My great grandmother's engagement diamond was set into the center of a gold cross on a necklace which I carried on my flowers.
Something new: My dress!
Something borrowed: I borrowed perfume from my Maid of Honor, Mi Corazon by Oscar de la Renta
Something blue:  I had a small blue bow sewn onto the inside of my dress.  The bottom side of my heels were also blue.

Tell us a little bit about your menu....
The reception was catered by Peninsula Grill and the food was absolutely amazing!  They did such a great job!  We chose to do a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception.  We chose this because one of our favorite dinners is just to have appeziters.  A few of our menu items were Baed brie en croute with raspberry-toasted almond jam, Yellowfin tuna tartare with blac sesame crisp, tomato & olive salad with fresh mozzarella on a crostini and shaved beef tenderloin on crispy crouton with asiago cheese.  There was a grilled garden vegetable station.  We also had three chef stations with Roast Bershire Pork Loin with rosemary Gravy, Lowcountry crabcakes and roasted red pepper, spinach, garlic and lemon penne pasta.

What's your favorite picture from your wedding and why?
By far, my favorite picture is one where we are standing at the entry way of the market.  There is one where we are kissing and another where we are looking at eachother.  Like I said earlier,  our absolute favorites dates involve market street.  Now everytime we go down there it has even more meaning to us and brings back great memories. There is also a picture of Paul and I crossing Market street with my maid of honor holding the back of my dress that is one of my favorites as well.  We were walking back from the Daughter's of Confederacy building and It has the Planters Inn in the background.

Out of the entire day, what was the most memorable moment?
It was after we left our reception, we walked down market street together and it was our first moment alone!  We were so happy and could not stop laughing because of how excited we were to be married!

Most valuable piece of advice you'd give to a newly engaged bride:
Make your decisions based upon what means the most to the two of you together!  Relax and have fun!  The day will come and go so fast.  Paul and I still look back and can't believe how much fun we had together that day.
