Sharing Samantha + Hugh’s South Carolina Society Hall wedding is long overdue but we have a feeling that you’ll find it worth the wait! The couple first met when Samantha was working at a Charleston restaurant that Hugh frequented and almost a year later, they had their first date. After the sweetest proposal at Sunset Park on James Island, the couple began planning their elegant Lowcountry wedding at The South Carolina Society Hall. On that beautiful November day, Samantha stunned in a fitted Wtoo by Watters gown and the perfect up-do from Gibson Hair and Makeup. Her bridesmaids continued the glamorous trend by wearing Adrianna Papell gowns from Bella Bridesmaids Charleston, while Hugh and his groomsmen sported Brackish Bow Ties handmade in Charleston. After a traditional ceremony at Grace Episcopal Church, the couple and their bridal party spent some time on the grounds of the historic College of Charleston (Samantha's alma mater) where Priscilla Thomas Photography captured some frame-worthy snapshots. The reception kicked off at The South Carolina Society Hall where Fresh by Frampton's Flowers dressed up the tables with navy linens, metallic accents and centerpieces full of white hydrangeas and baby's breath. Hamby Catering & Events treated guests to their signature Lowcountry cuisine followed by a tasty cake from Wildflour Pastry. As the evening came to a close, Samantha, who changed into her getaway dress, and Hugh ran through a shower of bubbles before hopping into a decorated rickshaw courtesy of Charleston Rickshaw.
The proposal: "Hugh was feeling the pressure with the holidays approaching and he knew he wanted to propose before the holiday season. He drummed up an idea to have their families join them for their First Thanksgiving together hosting. The weekend prior, Hugh started to freak out that it was going to rain on Sunday - he had originally decided to propose at Randolph Hall in the Cistern of College of Charleston, but with it going to rain, he had to squash that idea and start at square one. Saturday he had to work at the golf course and decided that he was going to wing it and do it then. He coordinated with one of his friends to have champagne and flowers brought to Sunset Park on James Island. He convinced Samantha to take their pup for a walk at the park - something that they ordinarily do. Samantha thought something was a little off considering Hugh was wearing a collared shirt to the park, but she went with it. Once they go to the point of the park where it overlooks the Charleston Harbor and downtown/White Point Gardens, he got down on one knee and asked the question! Samantha started laughing because then she realized that their friend was in the dunes taking pictures, and poor Hugh had to ask again, to which Samantha replied with a YES!They met friends downtown that night to celebrate and continued the celebration that following Thursday when their families joined them for Thanksgiving!"
