Honeymoon Packing Tips from Top Knots & Polka Dots

In September, I met up with Chloe of Top Knots & Polka Dots and the lovely Taylor Rae for what turned into one of my favorite features of our Winter/Spring Issue.  Chloe was kind enough to share her impeccable sense of fashion with us as she tested out a few killer outfits perfect to include in your honeymoon suitcase.  From exploring the town to an afternoon at the beach, check out a few highlights and gather some Honeymoon Packing Tips as you prepare for your relaxing trip.  A big thanks to Taylor Rae Photography for capturing all the pretty, Pink Dot Beauty Bar for Chloe's hair and makeup and Frampton's Flowers for the floral anklet!  Purchase your copy of our Winter/Spring issue here!

Weather – “Get a good feel for the weather,” says Chloe.  Step One - Take a look at the forecast to get an idea of the temperature when planning your waterfront wardrobe.  While we’d all love for it to be sunny and in the 90’s, the odds of an afternoon shower are all too real, so make sure to pack your cutest, lightweight raingear just in case you find yourself in need of an umbrella.

Maxi Dresses - “Maxi dresses go a long way,” says Chloe.  Stock up on a few versatile options that can easily transition from an afternoon cover-up to an evening on the town.

Shoes – We all love our shoes and we know you do, too, but don’t try and stash 17 pairs into your average-sized suitcase.  “Really, all you need is a couple pairs of sandals, some neutral wedges and a pair of sneakers.”

Purses - Leave your massive, everyday purse at home (or use it as your carry-on).  While honeymooning, Chloe suggests sticking to clutches and cross-body bags for your excursion days.  Not only is it the safer way to go, but it will also lighten the load while you’re out exploring.

Accessories – “Pack a few pairs of sunglasses and a sun hat, or two.”  Not only will you look good but you’ll also protect yourself from too much sun and wrinkles.

Flash Tattoos – “One of my favorite summer trends and they’re perfect for honeymooning!  These temporary tats last about 10 days and will save you from having to pack tons of jewelry.  They look impossibly cool while poolside, or at the beach, and feel so fun and bohemian!”

Be Practical – If you plan on living on a beach chair while you’re there, be practical!  Leave your backup hair straightener and Essie collection at home.  Keep your #OOTDs to a minimum and instead stock your suitcase with several swimsuits, plenty of SPF and cute cover-ups.
