An Oldfield River Club Wedding
VENUE: Kali’s parents live in Oldfield and from the minute she laid eyes on the River House she knew it would one day host her wedding. So, it’s no surprise that after Katon popped the question while they were moving into their first home together, their first post-proposal task was to secure the River House at Oldfield.
BRIDAL STYLE: Kali and her mom had arranged for a day full of dress shopping, but it was at her second appointment that she found her Martina Liana separates and quickly fell in love with the perfect combination. She paired the ivory bodice with a soft blush skirt and tied the look together with a custom-made ribbon belt. She accessorized her look with her mother’s heirloom jewelry – her something borrowed – and a pair of blush Tieks. Her bouquet – gifted to her by Katon’s parents – was an assortment of white blooms, including peonies, roses and lisianthus, which were fashioned in a cascading style and accented with silver dollar eucalyptus.
THE CEREMONY: Kali & Katon personalized their ceremony with what matters most to them – their family – and it was evident in their bridal attendants. Kali’s mother and sister stood by her side as her matron and maid of honor, respectively, while Katon’s father served as his best man. And while a day-of bicep tear sent Kali’s father to the emergency room the morning of the wedding, he made it back just in time to walk his daughter down the aisle.
AESTHETIC: The couple embraced Oldfield’s waterfront views and rustic backdrop with an open-air reception, and added a dash of romance with a classic navy and blush color palette. Seating tables were surrounded by natural chairs and topped with crisp white table linens and centerpieces of white delphiniums and hydrangeas. Overhead string lights were hung from the trees to add a soft glow to the Lowcountry evening.
THE MENU: The Summer celebration featured a tasty menu of chimichurri pork, mushroom and bleu cheese risotto along with Lowcountry samplings, including a biscuit bar, assorted sliders – pulled pork, brisket and shrimp – and a macaroni and cheese bar.
END OF THE EVENING: To end the evening, the couple asked their band to play “Days Like This,” by Van Morrison as the final song of the night. “We felt it was a perfect sentiment to end a wonderful day,” remembers Kali. As the crowd cleared the dance floor, the couple waved goodbye from the back of a white 1950’s Bentley – a gift from the groom’s parents – the same car Katon’s sister had used for her wedding years prior. The perfect way to end their family affair!
